Спасибо Лэнману Рейсу

Погуглив имя Лэнмана Рейса - сержанта, убитого в атаке Петропавловска, - я нашёл статью в "Морнинг Кроникл", которая показалась мне уже знакомым приложением к рапорту Кэптена Ф. Николсона, с указанием численности погибших англичан.
Но у Николсона Л. Рейс не упомянут, Николсон называл только офицеров, но не сержантов и не матросов. Так вот: этот список мне прежде не знаком, подписан он коммодором Чарльзом Фредериком, который командовал "Амфитритой" и после смерти Прайса остался старшим офицером станции (т.е. британского ТОФ), пока не сдал командование адмиралу Брюсу.
Остаётся посетовать, что списка погибших (как и уцелевших) русских матросов и солдат, защитников Петропавловска, не опубликовано. Мы знаем имена англичан и французов, погребенных в братских могилах у часовни, и не знаем имен наших героев, лежащих рядом.

переводить, по-моему, особенно нечего. "Ditto" (сокращённо "do.") означает "то же". "A.b." - неправильное, но традиционное сокращение от "able seaman" - матрос первой статьи. Некоторые из умерших от ран мне знакомы из дневников судовых врачей - как кочегар Сэм Сарджент, умерший от гнойного менингита в Нанаимо.
